American Reunion (2012)

When I was younger, I was a fan of American Pie (1999) and American Pie 2 (2001). I never liked American Wedding (2003) as much, but it’s not too bad. I really don’t have any interest in seeing those direct-to-video ones. One of the main things I really liked about the second film was that it brought back pretty much the entire cast from the first one, including relatively minor characters. It’s also one of the main reasons I didn’t care for the third one much. So, with this latest one, once again they brought back everyone and it was great. Well, except maybe for Tara Reid. I don’t know what she is anymore… The film relies heavily on nostalgia, but for me, it totally worked. I actually really enjoyed it. I’m not saying it’s a particularly good film, but I had a lot of fun watching it. It was just so nice to have all these characters back together. Despite all the sex-based humour, I think these films have a lot more heart than people would give them credit for. I wouldn’t recommend it to people who aren’t fans of the franchise and characters, but I had a good time.
